Why stumbling on a solution will be your worst decision this year

Two ways to work through a problem:

  1. Take a guess. See what sticks. Rinse and repeat.
  2. Bring insight and foresight into the picture. What do you understand to be true? What’s the context of the problem you’re trying to solve? What don’t you know? What assertions have you made? What other possibilities exist? What has worked? What hasn’t? Why?

It may be tempting to take the quick and dirty route. But in the long run, hoping to stumble upon a solution will only take you farther away from where you’re hoping to arrive.
